I'm mourning today.
Last night I drowned my iPod.
This iPod was a bit special to me because I won it at a corporate seminar about 3 1/2 years ago. Its the only thing I have ever won in my life and it really made the seminar a much better experience. It's been a steady companion since. Airplane rides, workouts, car trips, home music shuffles, hotel rooms, you name it, its been there with me.
Then, last night I was in need of a little relaxation with music. I love music and I especially love it filling my ears with relaxing sounds. So I took the iPod to a bath with me and it did the trick and helped me wind down for the night. (Though the thought did cross my mind that I might be taking a risk here.)
I guess it relaxed me too much, because I somehow forgot that I still had it on and reached forward to pull the plug out, pulling it right in behind me. It still played for about 1.6 seconds before.... nothingness. It drowned a quick death. I'm still bummed today about this loss.
So now I'm trying to figure out my next iPod play. My first thought was: well, perhaps its time to move to the iPhone. I wasn't planning to buy one before Christmas time, but perhaps the time has come.
Here is a question for all you iPhoner's out there... is there enough space on the phone for your thousands of songs as well? Or do you still have separate iPods? Let me know if you have suggestions on how I should replace this dear friend of mine.

R.I.P. my old friend.
